About Us
The British Nordic Development Squad‘s purpose is to develop the long term athlete development pathway from a club athlete to the British Nordic Ski Team. BNDS was formed in 2001, by the late Bob Lacy, to ensure that there was an opportunity for young athletes to progress into the Snowsports GB Teams and represent their snowsports home nations at Nordic skiing.
As a result of many years hard work by volunteers, athletes have progressed up through the system and are now competing on the world stage. At the top end of BNDS, the World Cup Group of talented athletes are selected to represent Team GB at major championships, through the BOA and SSGB against agreed performance criteria.
An agreement is in place with SSGB Nordic Committee for BNDS to run the British Nordic Ski Team and is recognised by the BOA. Nordic Skiing is a minority discipline and all 4 Snowsports home nations work together within the BNDS umbrella structure in the interests of the sport.
