World Juniors U23 Ladies15 km Pursuit

Snow, snow snow.. Around 30cm of overnight fresh snow affected both
competitors and spectators at the Women's Under 23 Pursuit. Despite leaving
in good time the Team bus got significantly delayed by other vehicles
struggling to make their way up the steep and twisting road to the course,
which meant that Sarah Young, 20, Huntly, the only GB competitor,  had less
time than she would have wished for wax testing and warm-up. Similarly her
stalwart  supporters had similar difficulties being delayed on a bus which
was also caught in the same traffic chaos and only reached the course with
minutes to spare

Light snow fell in the race which saw Sarah finish a good 39th out of 47alt
starters in a tough race which was dominated by the Norwegians who took first and second places. Sarah had a good classic leg followed by a strong skate leg on what were difficult tracks.. Particularly in the skate leg she found herself increasingly making her own pace as a number of  the competitors dropped out and, to her credit, she stayed the course, showing a great finish

This is now the last race for GB competitors in this World Under 23s/World
Junior Championships and with the World Group now splitting for a few weeks
focus next week will be on the Austrian Junior Championships where a number
of BNDS prospective EYO 2011 candidates will be competing followed by World
Cup Races next weekend in Canmore for Andrew Musgrave, Andrew Young and
Fiona Hughes
