For each and every one of them the Olympic Games is the pinnacle of their sport and the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice by both them and their families.

“The sportscotland institute of sport has been working closely with many of them, providing a range of support services and we are confident that they are all geared up to perform with distinction and will make our country very proud. Above all I hope they go out and perform to their best and enjoy what will be a fabulous experience.”

Mike Whittingham, Director of High Performance at the sportscotland institute of sport added: “I am delighted that so many of the athletes we have been working with are going to have the opportunity to fulfil their Olympic ambitions. There are more Scots on Team GB than ever before and I have no doubt that this is a direct impact of the continued investment in high performance sport at both Scottish and UK level.

“However qualifying and being selected for Team GB is but a stepping stone or minor Munro to many athletes and we look forward to continuing to help them to higher things in Vancouver. "

Good luck to all of Team GB in Vancouver.
